What is DoTheNumbers?

A new client can be set up within about half an hour with 3 or more years of historical data and an existing client can be kept up to date quarterly in about 10 minutes.

The reports produced can be used in a client meeting, emailed to a client, presented to a client on Powerpoint or shared via Teams or Zoom.

The reports are based on rolling 12 month financial figures to give an up to date picture of how the business looks now which takes out any seasonality, adjustments etc. The reports and key indicators calculated are different depending on the type of business the client is in.

All the way along the user will be advised how the tool is to be used in practice, how to set profit targets for clients in different industries, how to address poor performing businesses and what to discuss at quarterly meetings. It can be used to engage new clients and keep track of existing clients.

In short, DoTheNumbers is the basis of your business advisory service, has been proven to work and can be used by all your team.

It takes about 2 minutes to set up a new client and DoTheNumbers only requires the business name, type of Industry and what country/state it is in. You invite your users in and you can keep track which accountants look after which clients.

Why was it created?

Our accounting firm had used all sorts of financial software to provide business advisory services to our sme clients and although there is great software out there we found them:

  • too time consuming and
  • too costly to provide to all but a few clients.

With DoTheNumbers we can provide quarterly advice to any of our small business clients and they can afford to pay us.

Price and ROI

PRICE: $180 per month + gst for up to 3 users in your firm. Number of Clients is unlimited.

For more than 3 users it is an extra $60 per month + gst per additional user.

The subscription is paid by direct debit monthly and can be cancelled anytime however the initial minimum subscription period is 2 months.

ROI: you only need one client to pay for your year’s subscription.

The way we use DoTheNumbers, and suggest you do too, is to meet with client quarterly to discuss the trends in the business and their profit target. We spend 10-20 minutes updating our clients figures and kpi’s and meet with them to discuss these for about an hour. We charge about $500 for the preparation, meeting and report. This is about $2k per year which almost covers a year’s subscription. Alternatively you could provide the reports only, with some commentary, without a meeting, for about $200 per quarter and you would only need 3 clients to pay for the subscription.
